Theresa Grentz is a 2001 inductee into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her storied career in athletics. A former Mighty Mac of Immaculata, Grentz turned her prolific basketball experience into a coaching career, first at Saint Joseph’s, then Rutgers, and ultimately at the University of Illinois. Grentz also served as head coach of the 1992 Olympic team in Barcelona, which won the bronze medal.
Grentz is 10th all-time in women’s NCAA basketball coaching victories.
Theresa Grentz visited the Institute for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development at Neumann University to share some stories of her love of the game of basketball, and how the combination of persistence (“never quit”) and faith (“always find a way”) helped her find success.
