The 2014 Institute for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development Award will be presented on Thursday, November 6 at 11:20am in the Bayada Atrium of the Mirenda Center on Neumann University’s campus.
We are pleased to announce that our 2014 recipient will be the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation. Ed Snider, owner of the Philadelphia Flyers, created the foundation in 2005 to bring the game of hockey to children in and around Philadelphia who otherwise would never have the opportunity to play. Over the past nine years, Snider Hockey has grown to provide more than 3,000 children in the greater Philadelphia area with the equipment, ice time, and experienced coaching needed to play hockey. More importantly, the foundation teaches children to value their academic and personal development by stressing the importance of schoolwork, mutual respect, and good citizenship.
The Institute Award recognizes outstanding contributions in athletics. Recipients exhibit strong character through athletics, exemplify spirituality, and embody the good that exists in sports. Past recipients have included Ann Donovan, Head Coach of the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun (2013), Coaches vs. Cancer of Philadelphia (2012), and Keith Primeau, a former captain of the Philadelphia Flyers (2011).
The presentation of the award on November 6 is free and open to the public. For more information, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 484-840-4703.
